A Journey of Business and Social Responsibility Born in Istanbul in 1968, Çiğdem Dursun is a married mother of two. She embarked on her professional life in 1998 in the insurance sector, starting with Delta Insurance Brokerage Services. In 2000, following a bet, she ventured into the hotel and home slipper industry, establishing her own company, marking her first steps as a female producer in this sector.
In 2004, Dursun trademarked “CROCO,” the Italian equivalent of her name, successfully representing this brand both domestically and internationally. With the expansion of her business, in 2005, she founded “SAFRAN Shoe, Leather, and Textile Industry Foreign Trade Company,” focusing on increasing exports, in line with her brand and vision. Her entrepreneurial spirit and love for innovation led her to pioneer concept design applications in her industry.
In 2014, with a commitment to social responsibility projects, she established two Workshops within the Maltepe No. 2 L-Type Closed Penal Institution, teaching textile slipper production to inmates. These workshops aimed to equip inmates with professional skills for post-release life. In 2018, as the sole female producer in a male prison, Dursun established and trademarked the brand “Üreten Cezalı İnsanlar Kuruluşu” (By CiK), meaning “Producing Penalized Individuals Foundation,” intending to create a lasting impact.
Dursun’s future goals include supporting social responsibility projects for young inmates aged 16-18, and establishing “Workshops” within Penal I nstitutions. These workshops, aligned with the Ministry of National Education’s apprenticeship programs, aim to provide young inmates with vocational training to help them avoid unemployment and unlawful activities post-release. ;
